Pacific Northwest Surf. You naturally think of bands like Satan's
Pilgrims, The Surf Trio and other great surf bands based out of
Portland, Oregon. The Verbtones are working to earn a spot on that
list.

The band was formed in 2001 by VFF (Verbtones Founding Father) and lead
guitar player Kyle who recruited Steve Lewis on skins and Scot Hofstetter on guitar,
last but not least who keeps
the band on the move our vintage style Go Go dancer and vocalist Nadine
Together they showcase their haunting, spine-chilling
vintage-yet-modern surf melodies to ho-dads and grimmy's in Oregon and
beyond. These lads have a true love for today's surf music and a
respect for their surfin' forefathers that have influenced their unique
sound... a time capsule from yesterday that some how seems right for
today.

Q: Why call yourself? The Verbtones?
A: Well, let's see... Fender reverb tank... Dick Dale & His Deltones...
let's do the math. Reverb + Deltones = Verbtones. We figure a
surf band has to have a snappy, surfy name and The Verbtones sounds
vintage & modern. It grabs you by the ears and says Hey! This is a
surf band!

Q: Do you play live and what is your favorite club?
A: We play gigs once every month or so. That way we keep it fresh and
make our shows something to look forward to. In between gigs we polish
our sound, work on stage antics and write new songs or record.
Besides... the surf is always better after a few days of flat
conditions, right?
We play lots of clubs around Portland, but Duff's Garage remains a
favorite. Duff's showcases the best surf, rockabilly, roots and country
in Portland. The owner, Jon Wallace is a big surf fan and loves to have
surfin' combos shaking up his club. He also has his own surf band, The
Volcanos and they rock!

Q: How does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
A: Its a great way to reach music lovers all over the world; the surf
crowd and non-surf crowd. It has really opened a lot of doors for us.
Hey, I know it sounds cheesy, but it's the wave of the future. Check us
out at www.theverbtones.iwarp.com. (Oh wait, you already are! Thanks!)

Q: Your influences?
A: Okay... you asked for it. Bands: Eddie Angel. The Astronauts. The
Vistas. The Pyramids. The Centurions. The Lively Ones. Johnny Fortune.
Johnny Barakat. Bobby Fuller. The Deadly Ones. The Ghouls. The
